odd. I'd first try a different cable. next I'd try plugging into a
different receptacle in the router or switch.  But it does seem that if
it was a cable or connection problem, you'd occasionally have trouble
even when playing.  Is the touch synched to any other player. I have had
problems with this when my transporter (wired) was synced to a Radio
(that was on a relatively weak WIFI at the time).
