I had my SBT delivered about three weeks ago but, apart from checking
the contents of the box, I did not touch it until a couple of days ago.
However, it has proved completely simple to set up, with the only issue
being clearing the USB-stick before use (I did this after reading
several threads here and on the Logitech forums). I also decided to
format the 64GB stick as FAT32 for the simplest set-up (I used the
fat32format free utility).

I currently only have about 1000 tracks on the memory-stick (38 artists
in the usual album-artist/album/track layout - totalling approx 25GB)
all in FLAC format (level 5 comp), and my initial impressions are
extremely positive. The stick is a SanDisk Ultra 64GB rated at 15 MB/s
read speed (which is 100x I believe), so it is reasonably quick but
definitely nothing special. The initial scan and set-up seemed to take
no more than about 3 minutes, although I confess I didn't time it very
accurately as I was expecting it to take longer. All scrolling around
the files seem absolutely quick enough, so I can only think that this is
a completely usable set-up.

I may try formatting the stick as NTFS, for more efficient space
utilisation, but I am a bit concerned about extra processor loading; on
the other hand, everything is so quick currently that I probably needn't
worry. Sound quality seems good as well, I am currently using the
Toslink output into a, rather old, Cambridge DacMagic and it sounds just
fine, certainly as good as the CD transport into the same Dac, but I
tried it using the RCA outputs direct into the amp and it was fine that
way too.

So, basically, I am a very happy bunny, and beginning to think of
digitising some more LPs over this winter, a tedious process. The only
issue now is whether I can use the SBT for classical music which needs a
different folder layout, and does NOT want to be catalogued the same way
as pop/rock/folk/jazz etc.

But so far, so very good, the performance is just fine, and there is
always the option of getting a faster, and bigger, memory-stick if more
files slow it down later, but I would guess that I could more than
double the amount of music on there with no significant impact; but that
is a guess.
