Network is the base adress for the network (probably not necessary to
add) you probably figured that my router is 192.168.1.1 and that i let
my router do the dns lookup you could provide another dns if you want
to
And the broadcast adress may not be necessary either... google provided
:
"A broadcast address is a logical address at which all devices connected
to a multiple-access communications network are enabled to receive
datagrams. A message sent to a broadcast address is typically received
by all network-attached hosts, rather than by a specific host."
But it just typically the network with the last digits as 255 . If your
subnet mask is something else than 255.255.255.0 the broadcast address
is also different , but i don't use such complicated setup so I never
dealt with that .

IN the squeezebox context the server broadcast at port 3483 ,this makes
the player autodiscover the server
It is just the last digit that should differ from the router, router
could also be on for example 192.168.0.1 or an adress begining with 10
,. Note there are some people that have the router on a different
address than the typical defaults
