No thats the whole piont .

LMS on your PC see the permission the SMB share has in the perspective
off the PC .

LMS on the NAS works on it's local file system hence everything is about
the NAS local file system and the NAS users .
LMS on the NAS has its own local user on the NAS , but you really would
not bother with that . the goal is to check if the files aare world
readable and if not fix that .
If they are world readable and you still cant scan you got another
problem.

If you seen a DOS prompt in your life, a command terminal is about the
same thing you use a protocoll called SSH to do this remotely to *nix
computers you could also use telnet ,but SSH is what mostly used these
days .
