I think you're thinking incorrectly about this.  You don't need the USB
connection at all and won't help with your issue.You need to have your
NAS connected to router. And you need your touch connected to router
(via ethernet or WIFI).  Then you need Logitech Media Server running
somewhere. Is LMS running on your NAS? on a separate PC?  Describe the
problems you are having connecting the touch and getting to your music.
This will help us point you in the right direction.

p.s. the reason you'd use the USB connection is if you want to use
TinyLMS inside the TOUCH (rather than LMS running on a PC or NAS).  Then
you'd connect a USB harddrive to the TOUCH with the USB cable. But the
NAS is *not* a USB HDD.

(also note, discussions you see here about USB out and using to connect
from TOUCH to a DAC are an entirely different thing, and you should
ignore them for now).
