Whenever I try other radio services, it sends me back to Slacker. Can't live without that ban song / ban artist feature. Also, you can create a station based on a grouping of artists you select...which sounds kind of like what you want. It will slip in other similar artists, but you can dial in how much you want of discovery, deep tracks, popular songs, etc. I don't know what the bitrate is, though.
I don't know why Pandora gets all the attention.
