My remote as well as LMS on my computer ipeng and lMS on my iPhone/ipad. I can use the 4 way middle button to move up or down as well as volume up and down. Not sure what gives.
Are you using Mavericks or some other system with Perl 5.16? You then should update to 7.7.3 or 7.8.
