LMS (back when it was called something else) briefly had a feature called "Party mode" that did exactly what you want. That feature was removed, but it has been re-introduced in LMS 7.8, which is currently in beta. It is a switchable feature, so you can have either the current behavior or your preferred behavior. You can download 7.8 from http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/
