First figure how your amp works , is there any direct analog path at all ? Not common nowadays .
If not analog in gets digitised so you get the Touch DAC and AD in the amp + DAC in the amp . So with most ht amps the digital path is the most obvius one . The choice of toslink vs coax ,try ? Ideally it should not matter much but implementation seems to be everything and varying between products and they may even match differently ? So try out . Note that even if you have an analog passthru it seldom works with subwoofers .
