Lets just cut to the chase on this one, what's the budget your looking at? If you spend anywhere in the range of $300 you should go with a very basic PC. There a guy on the Polk foums selling Dell PC's for $325 w/ I3 cpu, 4 gig ram, 325HD with 6 3.0 USB pots and DVD/R drive, so hopfully this will give you move perspective on what is better.
