Agree. based on lots of engineering measurements, some blind listening tests, and other things (done by people that know what they are doing), the strong consensus was that the TOUCH was a better transport. I recall discussion of the DAC being a bit better designed. Significantly different sound? No, but better on several dimensions. I can say that moving from SB3 to Touch made a huge difference in the noise emitted by the power supply. The SB3 powersupply emitted a lot of noise picked up by radios, etc. nearby. The touch powersupply did not do this. another benefit of the TOUCH is that it natively handles certain codecs that the duet receiver does not and the TOUCH natively handles 24/96 and the duet receiver is only 24/48. All this said, could I pick out in a blind test which is playing? Probably not. But the reasons you've heard about why the receiver is better are not grounded in any engineering differences as I understand them.
