I would advise using a NAS instead of a USB drive. They come relatively
inexpensive as do the HD(s) they contain. They can also contain a
version of LMS, like my ReadyNAS. My system consists of the ReadyNAS
with two 2Tb drives in RAID configuration. This connects to my SBT
through Ethernet, the SBT outputs HD with EDO and connects to a miniDSP
room correction unit, then to a T+A DAC used as a preamp/DAC. As far as
sources are concerned (ReadyNAS with SBT), the cost is very moderate and
IMHO the sonic result very good.
