If there is nothing else wrong you could try, carefully, to use sox to
increase gain. Generally this doesn't seem to be recommended, but if
needs be you could try. If you are not familiar with sox (I'm not
much), you can install the c-3po plugin. Then on the web interface go to
settings, player, select your player, and the the c-3po settings. In
the "Additional effects AFTER resampling" insert something like

To gain 6dB. There are loads of other options in sox, and I don't know
enough to be able to advise. Increase gain can cause 'clipping' on
sound, so there could well be issues with trying this.
