So, 11 years ago I bought a touch and set it up in a high res compatable
system (Touch to Beresford DAC, to amp to speakers).

Today, for the first time, I actually got it to play Hi Res music !

So I thought I would post to celebrate my achievement !

I did get a high-res CD once many years ago alongside a DVD I purchased.
But my pc disk drive (its a bit old) wouldn't rip it & I couldn't be
bothered replacing it for just one album.

So, system has remained untouched with lossless files first on the pc
then moved to a NAS. Meanwhile, I have streamed Napster, then more
recently Deezer, via the Touch, but these are neither cd quality or hi
res.

Last month I thought I had cracked it with a 3 month trial of Tidal.
But, alas, it appears neither Touch nor my DAC can handle MQA. And then
last week, I lost Tidal when it demanded a software update. I cant do
that because my LMS is stranded in stasis on a Synology NAS (on version
7.7.6)

So, more reading the forums. One more option, Qobuz. I couldn't find the
plugin initially and thought my old LMS version was to blame. But
eventually I found it, added it to the Touch and Hi Res music is
emerging through the decade old system for the first time !

So, I am very pleased.

Now its fingers crossed that Qobuz doesn't demand an LMS software update
any time soon like Tidal did. Raspberry Pi is a challenge I am happy to
put off for as long as possible.

And to end on a recommendation, I know I've only had it running for a
few hours, but for other plug in and play Touch users like myself, Qobuz
seems a sensible way to go if you want Hi Res music. On first view it
seems to have more Hi Res albums than Tidal, and like me you may find it
is more likely to be compatable with your existing equipment than Tidal.
After all, who wants to be waiting 11 years to get everything to
work......
