GMane provides a bi-directional gateway that allows a mailing list to be
read in a newsreader via NNTP. I have the GMane Toybox feed configured
in Thunderbird (which I'm using to read and reply.)
I use GMail as my primary email, and prefer the web interface, so I
*don't* use TBird for email. (I have no need for a local copy of email
I get - it can live on Google's servers, thanks.) But TBird is a
serviceable newsreader, with some handy addons to make it more so.
The GMane feed works a bit better for following this list.
