Meanwhile I've confirmed that my faster machine (and the one with actual spare disk space) can't install openjdk7 for the android open source project build because system76 shipped it to me with ubuntu 13.04 which was _not_ an LTS release and I left it too long and can't ugprade it to anything newer because ubuntu took down the servers. No really: apt-get update gives me piles of: Err http://security.ubuntu.com raring-security/main Sources 404 Not Found [IP: 91.189.91.14 80] I thought you could still upgrade to the next LTS distro release even when they stopped offering new packages (I mean why _couldn't_ you?), but no. I have to reformat the box. (Which has all my email accounts and filters set up on it, so if I do that I probably lose access to email for a couple days.) So happy with Canonical. So happy with System76. The enthusiasm is just radiating off me in waves right now.
