Hi List,

We were stetoscoping around the engine during the week. One of my
friends established that while upstairs in the cyl head indeed there is
a slight rattle at normal idle, the majority of the noise is coming from
the front of the engine. I've been driving with it like that for more
than a month now and nearly everyone is telling me that I may have
damaged the cranks snout.
Is this true? If so, will polishing the snout iron out this problem? (I
think not) What part of the pulley/damper is worn? Do they actually have
a rubber component?

Thanx for any help
