Hi List,

I'm going to be picking up my TE72 from the body shop,
where it was left back in February (!!), after I had
broken in the new cam on a freshly rebuilt 3TC (about
25 min @ 2500-3000rpm).

My question has to do with resuming the engine
break-in.

Background:
Due to a transmission problem & an impending move, I
was not able to start the on-road break-in procedure.
Since Feb., then, the car has been driven some 10
miles (unfortunately, NOT by me! -from the
transmission shop to the body shop), and started up
some, what, 60+ times? (to get the car in/out of the
body shop garage each evening/morning for over a
month, until it was permanently interned for bdy
work/paint job).

Has this start/stop procedure reduced my chances of a
correct break-in?

After verifying the timing, adjusting valves, and
setting the carb, I'm fixing on driving it to my new
home, some 1200 miles away. I had previously hoped
that I could easily get in 500+ miles of
varying-throttle, mid-range rpm break-in for almost
half of the trip.

Should I continue with this plan, or are there other
considerations, given that this car has been started
up so many times prior to a full break-in procedure?

Given that the car/new motor has now stood idle for
over 1.5 months, is it critical to prime the oil pump
before starting her up?

Thank you in advance for any insights,

-a somewhat nervious, and quite anxious Philippe
(2 years on this project, and have yet to drive the
piece of $#%@^@# ; )
