Hello All,
Following up on Lee's recent status update, I'd thought I'd list the
status of GalaxiE.
Galaxie has resolved it's lack of toolkit issue and is currently using
EWL. The UI is being moved to EWL widgets mostly. This means partial
order entry has been done. It still has a quite a bit to go, but I
expect it to be complete within the week. Knowing how the universe
works, probably two however ;-)
Galaxie also has also had a major overhaul of it's connection
infrastructure to start to deal with multiple server connections. At
this time the only use of that is to browse for games (so it can connect
to the metaserver, and other servers to query game status and the like).
The browser is partially done, but it is not useful yet.
You can see it using ./galaxie -b.
TP04 work has been started. The system can use either TP04 or TP03 to
talk to servers, currently it's on TP03 at compile time. Once the last
sequence issues are resolved in tpserver-cpp, I'll turn on TP04
permanently. Work still to do is to gracefully fallback to TP03 if the
server doesn't support it.
This is where I intend to cut a release.
Once the TP04, and UI orders are done, my next project is to try and
allow the system to talk to multiple servers, and maintain separate
state. This will allow one galaxie client to run multiple AIs, with the
potential for AIs to communicate (ie cheat) if desired. The initial
implementation is designed to not cheat, but rather just allow multiple
instances. This can be to multiple servers, or the same server. This
is mostly in the data structures throughout the system.
Additional work to support TP04 features needs to be done - for instance
proper media support. I want to keep track with tpserver-cpp's
features.
Otherwise I also hope to get a version working on the <undisclosed
project> being demonstrated at LCA2008 - at the embedded mini-conf.
As usual, help appreciated, bugs reports, feature requests, and people
to use it appreciated.
Regards,
nash
