I note that JLP has already left a comment on that page and you have already made changes, but I will comment here. It sounds like an interesting project that I would have a vested interest in. I have been thinking about this for a while (note the oldest entry in the SF TODO tracker). If you haven't already, I should suggest having a brief look around the current code to see what it does.
