Henk,

You can obtain additional debug information by editing the serviceconfig.xml file and set the logging entry to emit debug information

<Logging directory="%TPTP_AC_HOME%\config" format="Simple" level="DEBUG" />.

Hello Valentina,

There was no ACServer or RAServer running.

I rebooted my machine to purge any erratic processes.

Not running any Java processes, I was still unable to run ACServer.

I then did the same steps on my personal PC and it installed

and ran fine. The sampleclient worked OK.

So there's something on my work PC that keeps it from running.

I presume I can build the RAServer.exe debug in VC 6.0 with the

instructions and files in

platform\org.eclipse.tptp.platform.agentcontroller\src-native\collection\framework\WinBuild ?

If I get chance I will see if I can build and debug it.

Henk

One of the reasons for the silent failure of the ACServer executable is that the control channel is in use by a previous agent controller service.
Did you previously run the profiler using a different install ?..

I can suggest a few steps that can hopefully help you solve the problem
- look for any dummy java processes running on your system ( an abnormal run of the profiler may result in java processes launched and not terminated when the application normally terminates; this running processes don't allow for the ACServer to successfully start, even if there is no other ACServer running)  Open the Task Manager and look for such processes. Terminate them if you find any
- look for an already running ACServer; look in the TaskManager for a RAServer.exe executable and terminate it
- close your eclipse workspace - the Integrated Agent Controller running inside the eclipse client vm may block the communication channel

After you validate all the steps below you should be able to successfully run the ACServer from the command line. I did a quick trial on the latest AC install on XP and it works fine
