You can also use SrvAny.exe (see
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q137890/). I followed the directions on
http://lazutkin.com/blog/2006/feb/18/setting-tools-windows and set up
tracd as a service quite happily.

Not sure if that is better than scheduled tasks though...
