I am not, note the smiley at the end.

I am merely pointing out the futility of hard-coding /etc, it works for the
majority of Linux systems, but Trac isn't solely run on Linux. So the solution
needs to keep in mind that it has to work on a variety of systems, even
including Windows. In general 'should' is on par with must/to be obliged, in
other words a non-negotiable thing.

I also didn't say I disagreed with the idea of inheritance.
