I was wondering if you had ever considered using the ADOdb library for database abstraction in Trac. It might make it easier to support more database backends much more quickly, without having to debug each one so much by hand. I can't say I've much experience with the Python version, but the PHP version is rock solid, and extremely fast. I'm currently using it to run a 24/7/365 mission-critical application serving some 6,000 users globally. And no, I don't have anything to do with their project - I just want to see solid support for more databases.
