I've collected a few statistics over the Trac project, so that all
contributors can have an overview of some of the work awaiting.
If that looks useful, I'll do that at the beginning of each month.
== Ticket Statistics (2007-09-05) ==
On a total of 5974 tickets:
- 1919 tickets are valid issues that have been addressed
(i.e. closed as fixed)
- 2965 tickets are closed as duplicates, invalid and worksforme
- 224 tickets have been deleted (spam, offensive content, etc.)
This leaves 866 issues opened, divided between untriaged tickets,
tickets awaiting for feedback and valid tickets.
- 162 tickets with no Milestone (see {20})
- 51 tickets awaiting user feedback (see {21})
- 653 valid tickets with a milestone set,
which can be further divided into:
* 61 tickets for 0.10-stable (see {22})
* 20 tickets for 0.11 (see {23})
* 166 tickets for 0.11-stable (see {25})
* 366 tickets for future releases (see {24})
The {x} number corresponds to a Trac report containing
those tickets sorted by last modification date.
== How to help? ==
First, there is a good deal of tickets which are not yet triaged. Anyone
with some knowledge about the Trac project can help us to apply the
triaging rules, in order to detect duplicate requests, eliminate invalid
tickets and identify the real issues by assigning them a milestone
(see http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/TracTicketTriage).
For the tickets that are waiting for user feedback, anyone can help as
well: close tickets which haven't received the requested feedback since
a few months or further process them if they received some feedback.
Finally, among the valid tickets, 290 are categorized as defects (*).
Those should probably get the most attention or be recategorized as
enhancements if they are not real defects.
Note also that a good deal of the tickets for 0.10-stable probably also
apply to 0.11, so we shouldn't forget about them.
