Both good ideas!
I'd suggest putting some examples of denying permissions in the docstring.
Also, this:
<realm>:<id>@<version>[/<realm>:<id>@<version> ...]
Should be this:
<realm>:<id>[@<version>][/<realm>:<id>[@<version>] ...]
