Hello Trac developers
I’ve recently stumbled upon a nice Python IDE called PyCharm from Jetbrains, and they have several types of licenses. One is free for qualified open-source projects. I wrote to them to ask for such a free license due to my minor commitment in Trac, and got a positive reply from them, see below. They want the Trac project to formally register for a free license to all of its contributors! I am therefore forwarding my original request, with the reply from Jetbrains, to this mailing list in the hope that the Trac project could do such a formal request. I feel that I myself do not belong to the “TracTeam”, as coined below, and I know what you guys think about such terms (“core team” etc., from mails on this mailing list in mind). So what do you say—Christian or Remy, or anyone with commit-rights to the Subversion repo? Wouldn’t it be interesting to have a nice IDE available for contributors of Trac? The Trac project qualifies for our free OS license, but since one license is given for the whole project, and Trac is a big project with lots of contributors, it’d be best if someone from the TracTeam could send a request for the license: http://www.jetbrains.com/eforms/resolver.action?licenseRequest=pcOSL Do you think you could contact them and see if they are interested? I am using Python mainly for contributions to the open source project Trac, http://trac.edgewall.org, and for some personal house-keeping scripts. I am not authorized to commit code to the main repository of Trac, however I do supply patches and is responsible for the Swedish language translation. My user name on the Trac project site is mrelbe, please see the following as a confirmation of my commitment: â¢ http://trac.edgewall.org/query?owner=mrelbe â¢ http://trac.edgewall.org/log/trunk/trac/locale/sv Does this qualify me to use PyCharm under the open source license? If so, I would like to kindly ask for such a license. Thanks in advance, and best regards Mikael Relbe -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Trac Development" group.
