Just to clarify the status of this ticket: comment:51 was the
authoritative "closing" of this ticket, saying support for MySQL has been
integrated in trunk (0.10dev), is flagged "experimental" for now, mainly
due to the lack of user feedback about how robust it is.
Further issues with this backend should be reported as new tickets; also,
success stories could be reported there: DatabaseBackend#MySQL
