That would be useful. I know the webmail I use, SquirrelMail, has a plugin
that sets a cookie every n seconds. Then if I leave the compose page by
accident, or the browser crashes, next time I go to the compose page it
asks me about restoring. However, a server-side solution might be better
because I can see edit conflicts happening, and the server may let you
know that somebody else has been working on a draft.

To get around my noted problem, I have found that editing the page in one
tab while adding attachments in another can add the files "behind your
back" and they work fine on your next preview. But still, when I'm working
on a wiki page for more than 5 minutes, I start to get nervous (call it
MSWord Ctrl-S syndrome).

But I would like the database questions answered too, even if it is just
out of my personal curiosity...
