It's sort of misfeature of HTTP authentication.  The browser needs to
resend your authentication information with each request, so they cache
your login info until you close the browser.  There are Firefox
extensions to let you clear the authentication cache, or you can switch
to using a login form like the one from the AccountManager plugin:
