say "which python" at the command line. You probably have a python 2.2.3 binary installed to /usr/bin/python, and that gets hit first, look at the order of your PATH variable to see why, also if you are running python in cgi mode check the shebang line of your trac.cgi or trac.py file and see what it points to.
