 0.10b1 is rather old, and contains a few bugs in the Wiki regular 
expression that can trigger such performance issues. Your first move 
should be to upgrade to 0.10.3 and see how it performs with that 
version. Using mod_python is also nearly a "must" for decent 
performances on Windows (or use tracd).
