Hi Henning,

Do you want to use it for production or just investigating. I also newbie
myself and many people suggest me start from tracd and SQLite
configuration. I wouldn't go for MySQL yet since Trac support is not
stabled.

The configuration to use is really depend on the size of the project. For
me I only use it for my own so the simple configuration is enough.

If you plan to use it for the larger group you would want to configure
FastCgi. However, you will need to mess with Apache configuration. The
TracCGI and TracFastCGI assume some level of Apache admin skill. Your web
hosting might understand the instruction.

In addition to shell access, you would need to have write access to your
web server space to install Trac and SVN.
