Folks, Joe Dayney here. I am working on a project to create a unified SCM / QA System to support a RAD Application here in Logan, Utah.
We have a pretty diverse environment, IBM MVS, Sun Solaris UNIX, AIX UNIX, SUSE Linux, Ubuntu Linux. We are dedicated to going forward with OpenSource, OpenSystems. We are already licensed for Mercury Test Director, so we will probably use that for Requirements Management. But for the rest .... So far we have SubVersion (Version Control), TortoiseSVN (Front End Client For SVN), trac (Issue Management), and CABIE (Continuos Automated Build Integration) and these are now all integrated and working together. I am exceptionally pleased with the seamless integration of trac, TSVN & CABIE. Have CABIE / SVN to automatically perform multi-level regression testing per change / commit to the SVN Repository. At the appointed time, a given tagged BUILD is automatically released for Distribution to the multiplatforms based on SVN REVISION.BUILD using custom automated scripting. Now that the framework is all working together nicely, time to go back and begin Customizing these great tools / components ! Hats off to you folks for making trac such a great tool. What comes out of the "BOX" ... generic / vanilla version is GREAT ! Looking at the version you folks are running on: http://trac.edgewall.org/ticket/ I see some nice differences I would like to incorporate in our version. Can you folks PLEASE point me to sources of documentation / wikis / crib sheets or blood-sweat-tears real-life experiences on HOW-TO on the following features you have on your Version that we do not have on the generic Version: Full Description EDIT BOX Edit Buttons New Paragraph New Line Break Ticket Properties I like having BOTH Priority and Severity with the SAME OPTIONS you have (but ability to modify later) How to Customize COMPONENT: Options Easy to Add More on Ongoing Basis How to Customize MILESTONE: Options Easy to Add More on Ongoing Basis How to Customize VERSION: Options Easy to Add More on Ongoing Basis Checkbox for " I have files to attach to this ticket " (can these be ANY kind of file format ? *.doc, *.PDF, *.bmp, *.jpg, *.gif ? ) Your Tool looks / works great. What comes out of the box is pretty much ready to go and given such ready-made functionality, I would assume to be able to add the minor customizations you folks have, and not hopefully prove extremely difficult.
