I should describe what I followed and what I got just now.
Windows XP, apache 2.0.55 (definitely intented for trac only, other
applications are under apache 2.2)
I configured apache this way:
<Location /trac>
SetHandler mod_python
PythonHandler trac.web.modpython_frontend
PythonOption TracEnvParentDir c:/trac
# PythonOption TracUriRoot /trac
AuthType Basic
AuthName "test Proj"
AuthUserFile C:/xampp/xampp/apache/bin/passwd.lv
Require valid-user
</Location>
the error is like in the last posted, however, I tried
C:\Python24\Scripts>..\python tracd --port 8000 c:\trac
127.0.0.1 - - [07/Aug/2007 19:30:57] "GET /trac HTTP/1.1" 200 -
127.0.0.1 - - [07/Aug/2007 19:30:57] "GET /trac/chrome/common/css/
trac.css HTTP/1.1" 200 -

it works well. Therefore the suspected point is the setting for
apache.
c:\trac is where the environment is. Is that "trac engine" in your
reply?
another setting, I put the port to 8001 under apache, that sould be
OK, right?
