This has definitely crossed my mind to do as a plugin before.  
Pictographs of some kind in ticket comments and the timeline (be it  
gravatar based or otherwise) would be very nice. My "to-write" list  
w.r.t. Trac plugins has been getting rather long lately, but if  
someone is looking for pointers I can certainly whip up a first pass  
fairly quickly.
