I developed a small plugin to search in all projects in a multi-project trac environment. I'll upload it to trac-hacks, but didn't do it yet. I'm attaching it.
To enable the plugin, install it the usual way, and enable in [components] with: tracsearchall.* = enabled The plugin will add a new checkbox "All Projects" in the Search page. Greets.
