Not sure how to understand your post: If you're not familiar with an environment, is it not easier to start with something you know? The learning curve of Unix is steep, indeed. Setting up a web server, dealing with dependencies - not mentioning CentOS... - is a huge step to start learning the Linux environment. I was not bailing on nor bashing, for sure.
