It works for me. I can't remember if I had to install anything separate to get it to work, but it wouldn't have been any more than "apt-get" (I'm on Ubuntu Linux). I would make sure the plugin itself is loading. If it takes a lot of effort, I will say it's not worth it. We are using it, but it's not really all that exciting and everyone clicks download/open in the browser to view it in Excel anyway.
