you are using basic auth? the browser sendes the username all the time, so no way on the server side to prevent that.
with internet explorer open a new internet explorer operating system process by starting it via the taskbar. for firefox this is unfortunately not possible, but otoh there is a plugin which yuo can use to clear the authentication data (webdeveloper). rupert.
