Hello all, posting under a new email address. Hope all is well in the Trac universe. I have a question. There are two "vectors" of approach that I would like to discuss.
What is the "best way" to put Trac 0.10 and Trac 0.11 on the same machine. It seems that the versions of python and other dependencies are different for both of these versions; obviously the templating engine change is huge. I have a client who wants the PrivateTicketPlugin on one Trac instance but can't live without CustomWorkFlow on the other instance. I've looked a bit through google in an attempt to find a how-to for installing concurrent versions of Trac on a machine and was wondering if someone could point me to the right documentation if such an animal actually exists --- or, if it doesn't exist, maybe a discussion on what would be required. I am currently running Trac on OSX Leopard (another variable of complexity, I know). I attempted to install Trac via Ports, but had issues getting the WebAdmin plugin to work. I then installed Trac 0.11 using the easy_install scripts, and while that worked great, because of the PrivateTicketPlugin being a requirement, I needed to either downgrade to 0.10.4 or figure out a way to do a concurrent install. I ended up downgrading as I got lost in trying to get Apache to point to the correct version of python and the Trac code in a case by case basis. Thoughts? Also, I noticed some conversation about the complexitites of where Trac 0.11.x has led some folks into a programming "corner" so to speak. Was wondering what the state of Trac was at this point, and if there's anything a long time Trac user, dinkum programmer such as myself could do to help things along?
