If I understand you correctly, you could use [[BR]] instead of starting paragraphs. Something like Item one[[BR]] Item two[[BR]] Indented first item[[BR]] Admittedly, using a lot of [[BR]]s is a bit ugly but the other suggestions seem like overkill if this achieves what you're looking for.
