As you already noticed, this is not a conf prob, but a DNS one.
If your admin aint going to change the routes, maybe you can convince him to 
change the DNS entry of your local DNS server, assuming you have one.
If you dont, then at least convince him to set the router to use OpenDNS DNS 
servers, and then change your server entrie there!
