Ah. Thanks.
Osimons/Coderanger also suggested that I could hide the dropdown using
style="display:none;"
I will try to rename the current dropdown, so I still can keep it visible
and disabled, and add a hidden field with the correct value using genshi.
I'll report back if I'm successful.
