Trac design choices have already been debated many times (I'd suggest you browse the Trac ML archives for details and motivations): a feature that is not common enough is not integrated into Trac core, while Trac provides many extension points to customize and extend features. Debating whether a specific feature should be integrated to the core usually ends up with an endless thread ;-) >From my *personal* point of view, submitting ticket through email is not an essential feature, but an API to remotely manipulate Trac DB would be nice. Whether it should be an XML, JSON or another interface is yet to be decided.
