That is a good point. Just to make sure I better understand, you are happy with the pointing-to structure of the tickets, but the question was how to have effort and such also add up along a certain path. Is that a better statement of your question?
I am sort of happy with it. The structure is fine, but it's used for two reasons, and to do the "add up estimates for all subtasks" you have to know what kind of edge each one is. So I don't see a way to have both kinds of edges and rolled up subtasks without some changes.
