I use the Trac timeline RSS feed over https with digest  
authentication. I'm pretty sure it's just up to your RSS program to  
ask/supply credentials. So no, you don't actually put them in the feed  
URL.

ie. Apple Mail and Vienna both work this way on OS X using the Keychain.
