i have the same issue. in my case, i think it is because i am running  
on a virtual server, and my host decided to run F11 (built for 2.6.29  
kernel) on top of the 2.6.24-xen kernel. the version mismatch breaks  
some system call that svn makes. here is the redhat bug report that  
informed me:

i work around it by not using SVN on my server. instead i check out  
locally, then upload a tar.bz2 by hand.
