You know, that functionality was probably there the last time I looked but it's
still not clear to me that that 'updating' a ticket means adding a comment. The
docs you pointed at, for example, talk about the syntax for setting various
ticket properties, but don't mention that the body of the email is appended as
a new comment.  In my defense, all the oneline descriptions of email2trac say
thinks like 'creates tickets in trac from emails'

The trac DB schema has never quite aligned with my brain, I guess.

And there it is, in the source:

  def ticket_update(self, m, id, spam):
           """
           If the current email is a reply to an existing ticket, this function
           will append the contents of this email to that ticket, instead of
           creating a new one.
                """


Thanks, I'll have to take another look at deploying this for us.
