Is it possible we can enable authz_policy (built in with trac) in
your Trac environment and see what happens?
does require one additional python module:
easy_install configobj
Edit trac.ini and adjust/add the following to existing configuration:
[components]
tracopt.perm.authz_policy.* = enabled
[trac]
permission_policies = AuthzSourcePolicy, DefaultPermissionPolicy,
LegacyAttachmentPolicy
[authz_policy]
authz_file = /some/trac/environment/location/myproject/conf/authzpolicy.conf
Edit/create that authzpolicy.conf file and add the following:
[groups]
rpc_allowed _folk = you, me, somedude (replace with actual users of course)
[*@*]
@rpc_allowed_folk = XML_RPC, WIKI_VIEW
reboot Apache and see what happens...
Even if this does not work, I think with the authz plugin enabled, we
will see a greater degree of what location/permission needs to be
opened up in the debug logs:
instead of only seeing:
Apr 11 13:20:30 dev-01 Trac[perm] DEBUG: No policy allowed anonymous
performing XML_RPC on None
may now read something like this (actual data collected from my server):
2011-04-13 22:33:55,206 Trac[authz_policy] DEBUG: Checking SEARCH_VIEW on
*:*@*
2011-04-13 22:33:55,207 Trac[authz_policy] DEBUG: *:*@* matched section *@*
for user anonymous
2011-04-13 22:33:55,207 Trac[perm] DEBUG: No policy allowed anonymous
performing SEARCH_VIEW on None <as you can see, very UN-helpful the perm
plugin, as anonymous was clearly found, and was NOT granted permission (the
perm module stating 'No policy allowed'...) But atleast we are able to see
exactly what location is needed to be worked on.
which just may lead us to what we need to set correct permissions:
2011-04-13 22:22:48,510 Trac[authz_policy] DEBUG: Checking XML_RPC on
rpc:xmlfiles1@*
even if it is *:*@*, and not some specific location, we can possibly enable
it through authz_policy.
Its a bit of a long shot, but might direct us in the right direction. Hope
this helps!
